Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

    • In California, you don’t need a doctor’s prescription to see a Physical Therapist. You can receive treatment for up to 12 sessions or 45 calendar days, whichever comes first.

    • After this initial period, you can continue your Physical Therapy only if you’ve had an in-person examination and received approval for your Physical Therapist’s care plan from a physician, osteopath, or podiatrist licensed in California.

    • It's worth noting that some health insurance providers may still require a physician's referral to cover Physical Therapy services, if you plan to submit your claims. You can call your insurance company to find out whether your insurance requires a prescription before your first visit.

    • SAVES TIME
Skip the wait for a referral from your primary care doctor for Physical or Occupational Therapy. If you believe you have a condition that could benefit from therapy, you can refer yourself and save valuable time.

    • SAVES MONEY
Direct access helps you reduce out-of-pocket expenses by eliminating the need for a visit to your primary care doctor or specialist just to obtain a referral!

    • FASTER RECOVERY
Patients who use direct access often recover faster by going directly to injury experts. Begin your journey to recovery by scheduling an appointment.

  • Due to the nature of our services, which often involve spending an hour or more with each client, we do not accept insurance and are classified as an out-of-network provider with all insurance companies. If you have out-of-network benefits, we will supply you with the necessary documentation to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. As a result, payment is expected at the time of service.

Please note that InFlow Integrative Physical Therapy, PC is not a Medicare provider, and as such, we are unable to provide Medicare patients with what would be considered “normally covered services”. If you are a Medicare beneficiary and have questions or would like to discuss treatment options, please don’t hesitate to call us.

  • This is simple! Just call your insurance company and inquire whether your plan offers out-of-network benefits. If it does, be sure to ask them these questions:

    • Do I have an out of network deductible?

    • Have I met my deductible for the year? If not, how far away am I from meeting the deductible?

    • Is there paperwork that must be filled out when submitting the out of network claims? If so, do you provide that paperwork?

    • Do I need to be pre-certified for physical therapy sessions in order to receive reimbursement?

  • We recommend wearing comfortable clothing, like shorts or workout pants along with a tank top or t-shirt, to give the therapist easy access to the affected area. For those experiencing shoulder and neck issues, a tank top or camisole can provide better access for the therapist to address your concerns.

  • Please bring your Doctor’s prescription for Physical Therapy, if you have one. If you have any reports for a surgery or diagnostic images, please bring those as well.

  • To ensure that your first visit goes smoothly and you get the most benefit from your session, please take a few moments to complete the necessary paperwork beforehand. This information helps us better understand your health history, concerns, and goals, allowing the therapist to tailor the session to your specific needs. By filling out the forms in advance, you can focus more on your treatment during your visit and less on paperwork. If you have any questions while completing the forms, don’t hesitate to reach out for assistance. We look forward to working with you!

  • For your telehealth session, it's important to be in a quiet space where you have enough room to move around, lie down, or sit comfortably. Good lighting is essential so we can see you clearly, along with a strong internet connection. Please ensure you have a stable spot for your computer, phone, or iPad that provides a clear view of the camera.

A telehealth session is similar to an in-person appointment, minus the hands-on component. It may include patient education, movement assessments, and guidance on exercises and self-mobilization techniques.

  • There are many options for our work together. At the start of each visit, I’ll ask what you’d like to focus on, allowing us to tailor the session to best serve your needs. We can incorporate hands-on treatment, exercises, movement practices, breathwork, education on various topics, and more or a combination of these approaches.
